FUSED GLASS -- (Lori Emly, Instructor) All Skill Levels ($135 for six weeks) Monday 9:30a - 12:30pm. Class begins June 3, 2013. Class covers the basic and intermediate techniques of glass fusing.
Students will learn to use the kiln to achieve vibrant and original
glass designs in functional and decorative pieces, including jewelry,
small plates, wine stoppers, and more. Participants will learn to add
interest by introducing frit, stringers and metals to their work.
Students may bring their own glass, or supplies may be purchased from
the instructor. Lori is an experienced ceramic and glass artist with years of teaching experience.
POTTERY AND MOSAICS FOR KIDS 10 AND UP --(Lori Emly and Betsy Heath instructors) $135 for six weeks, Mondays, 2-4pm. Class begins June 3, 2014. The young artist will be introduced to the basic pinch, coil, and slab handbuilding techniques. We will also cover throwing on the wheel. Projects are designed to stimulate creativity in a playful way and will emphasize the tactile and plastic qualities of clay. In addition, we will spend two weeks working on a Mosaic Art project using some of the hand built pieces from prior weeks.
WHEEL THROWN POTTERY -- (Lori Emly, Instructor) All Skill Levels ($145 for six weeks) Tuesdays, 6-9 PM. Class begins June 4, 2013.
This comprehensive class covers basic and intermediate throwing and
hand building skills. Begin with making cups, bowls and vases and then
continue to more complex pots. Lori is an accomplished ceramic and
glass artist with years of teaching experience. Her class allows for
individual project and skill development. Please bring a towel to class
(we tend to get a little messy).
SCULPTURE IN CLAY-- (Suzanne Peiffer, Instructor) All skill levels ($145 for six weeks) Wednesdays, 9a - Noon. Class begins June 5, 2013. This
class is designed for the beginning and continuing student. Suzanne is
a classically trained sculptor with years of teaching experience.
Students are encouraged to bring to class visual aids and inspiration
for their personal projects. Individual attention will be given to each
student throughout the course, focusing on each student's respective
goals.
MOSAICS -- (Betsy Heath, Instructor) All Skill Levels ($150 for six weeks, price includes basic mosaic supplies) Thursdays 9a - Noon. Class begins June 6, 2013.
A smashing good time! Create artful mosaics by using familiar
materials - ceramic tile, glass, pottery, stone, and found objects - in
new and different ways. Betsy is an experienced mosaic artist who has
taught many workshops and classes. Students may bring a project of their
own choosing, or they will have options supplied by the instructor.
All levels of experience are welcome, and all forms of expression will
be encouraged including functional and decorative pieces.
BEGINNING WHEEL THROWN POTTERY (Mary Moon, Instructor) -- ($145 for six weeks) Saturdays, 9:30AM - 12:30PM. Class begins Saturday, June 8, 2013.
Great class for beginning and continuing students. Instruction will be
focused on throwing bowls, cylinders, and mugs. Surface enrichment and
glazing will also be covered. Please bring a towel to class (we tend to
get a little messy).
Pottery & Sculpture for Home Schoolers:
Thursdays 1-3pm. This class will begin again in August.
($125 for six weeks, registration and payment in advance is required to
hold your spot, as space is limited. This price includes all clay and firings.)
Great class for Home Schooled Children ages 10 and up. Class will cover the basics of wheel thrown and hand built pottery, and
sculpture. Students will work on individual pieces learning
techniques, and building confidence in the arts. They will take home
everything they create. The instructor will discuss the history and
background of ceramic applications.
Girls Night Out:
Indian River Potters' Guild also hosts themed workshops as a social
event with a kick. Prior experience or special skill is not required.
Just a desire to have fun! For a $50 fee, you hand build the project
alongside your instructor. Your original work of art will be fired and
glazed by the studio, and ready for pick up about two weeks later.
We are happy to arrange workshops for your friends, women's group,
team, or business. We ask for a minimum of six people, and we'll create
an experience just for you.
